RAT
(RANDOM ART THinkS)
"Where art is a laughing matter that we take seriously"
RAT are silly cartoons, drawings, and /or random thoughts and speech bubbles lampooning the art world and ourselves as artists. RAT pays homage to some of our favorite caricaturists such as Gustave Dore, George Cruikshank, Honore Daumier, James Gillray, Jose Guadalupe Posada, Thomas Nast, and others, who through their graphic works have used their pens as weapons to satirize the follies of excess and miserliness among the nouveau riche, political elites, as well as criticizing corruptions, ignorance, and provincialism.
By biting the hand that feeds us, RAT will poke its pen and ink at art world related themes such as: art institutions, galleries, curators as art stars, art collectors, art critics, ego-maniac artists, artist anxieties, gentrification, hipster artist wannabe, art theory and… what ever sophomoric and scatological idea comes our way.
RAT is brought to you by courtesy of random parts for your entertainment pleasures. It is an AFKAF inspired project.
